Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has reportedly remained as a transfer target for Burnley.
The Clarets registered an interest in the England international during the summer, only for the player to reject the chance of a move to Turf Moor.
However, the 27-year-old has remained on the periphery of Thomas Tuchel's squad, playing just 68 minutes spread over three substitute appearances.
According to The Sun, Burnley will make another attempt to sign Barkley at the turn of the year having endured a difficult start to the season.
Sean Dyche's winless team have collected just three points from eight fixtures, leaving the Clarets down in 19th position in the Premier League standings.
The report adds that Burnley are prepared to pay a large portion of Barkley's wages in order to secure a loan deal.
