New signing Demba Ba makes his Chelsea debut in their all-Premier League FA Cup third-round clash with Southampton at St Mary's.

Demba Ba will make his first Chelsea appearance in their FA Cup clash with Southampton at St Mary's Stadium this afternoon.

The Senegalese striker completed his £7m switch from Newcastle United on Friday and comes straight into the Blues' starting XI in place of Fernando Torres.

Frank Lampard is named alongside Torres on the visiting bench as Ashley Cole, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard return to the lineup after being rested for the shock defeat by Queens Park Rangers.

Home boss Nigel Adkins has chosen to rest attacking duo Rickie Lambert and Gaston Ramirez, and is also without injured playmaker Adam Lallana.

Teenage midfielder James Ward-Prowse is given a berth in the Saints midfield, while Jay Rodriguez will lead the forward line.

Southampton: Boruc; Cork, Fonte, Yoshida, Shaw; Schneiderlin, S. Davis, Ward-Prowse, Puncheon; Rodriguez, Guly

Chelsea: Turnbull; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole; Ramires, Luiz; Moses, Mata, Hazard; Ba
