Report: Chelsea board discuss Jose Mourinho future

Chelsea's board reportedly discuss the future of manager Jose Mourinho after the club's slow start to the season, with the Portuguese coach to remain in charge.

Chelsea's board have reportedly met to discuss the future of Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese manager to remain in charge for the foreseeable future.

Mourinho's side have made a slow start to the season, and currently occupy 16th place in the Premier League with just eight points from their first eight matches.

The Premier League champions succumbed to a fourth league defeat of the season on Saturday, as Southampton overturned Mourinho's side 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, and club owner Roman Abramovich attended the match.

According to The Telegraph, discussion of Mourinho's future took place after the conclusion of the game, but Chelsea's board want the 52-year-old to remain in charge and create a dynasty at the club.

Chelsea will take on Aston Villa in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday, October 17.
