Former captain Dennis Wise has agreed to rejoin the board of the Chelsea Pitch Owners (CPO).
The company is a supporter-led organisation which owns the freehold of Stamford Bridge.
The 44-year-old had previously been a member of the board during the 1990s.
"Dennis is delighted to rejoin as a director. As a hugely popular former skipper of the Blues, he has a passion for Chelsea, and in particular for the fans, and sees this as an opportunity to reconnect with his football 'family'," said CPO chairman Steve Frankham.
The Pitch Owners have recently been in the spotlight following Blues owner Roman Abramovich's failed attempt to buy the freehold of the stadium with the idea of relocating.
The Russian only received 61.6% of the 75% vote share that he needed for the move.
