Andriy Shevchenko lined up for Chelsea coaching role?

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly considers appointing retired striker Andriy Shevchenko as a coach alongside interim boss Rafael Benitez.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly begun talks with former striker Andriy Shevchenko over moving to Stamford Bridge in a coaching capacity.

The Russian billionaire is believed to have a friendship with Shevchenko, who retired from the game following Euro 2012. The ex-Ukraine international spent three years at the West London club during his career.

It is understood that Abramovich is trying to find a position for the retired striker to work within the coaching staff alongside interim manager Rafael Benitez, according to The Express.

Reports have claimed that the 36-year-old could be given a director of football role at the Premier League club.
