Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers laments refereeing decisions

Brendan Rodgers believes that Liverpool should have been given a late penalty against Chelsea on Sunday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that his side should have earned a penalty against Chelsea when Samuel Eto'o made a late challenge on forward Luis Suarez.

The Northern Irishman has also claimed that the Blues striker should have been sent off for his challenge on Jordan Henderson.

"You've seen them given and Eto'o was not even looking at the ball," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "He's been streetwise and cute and was looking to block Luis.

"If he's intentionally blocking our man, it's a penalty, isn't it? But Howard Webb was on the spot and we have to accept it and move on.

"Eto'o was very fortunate to be on the pitch. The challenge [on Henderson] on was a poor challenge. I know we scored from it, but he was nowhere near the ball."

Liverpool lost the Premier League match 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and are now six points behind leaders Arsenal in fifth place.
