Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur were the better team against Chelsea'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino claims that his side were the better team during their 2-1 defeat to London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that his side did not deserve to lose against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening.

Goals from Pedro and Victor Moses were enough for Chelsea to claim a seventh straight victory and move top of the table once again, ending Tottenham's unbeaten start to the season in the process.

However, Pochettino believes that his side outperformed their London rivals on the night and was pleased with the team's display despite the result.

"If we analyse the game we were better. We competed very well and we were a bit unlucky to concede... never 1-1 at half time. The second half we conceded a goal very early," he told reporters.

"We are disappointed but we need to be pleased for the performance and the way we competed against a very good team. We had the possession and created more attempts than Chelsea. All the stats are for us but football is not just about stats. You need to be clinical and score. It was a competitive game.

"Every game you need to prove. It is tough to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League. We need to look ahead and prepare for the next game."

The defeat means that Spurs have now won just one of their last five Premier League outings.
