Jose Mourinho promises Ruben Loftus-Cheek first-team role next season

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is part of his plans for next season and could be handed a regular starting role in the team.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be in line for a more regular first-team role with the club next season.

The 19-year-old academy product has been promoted to the senior side this season, making his debut as a late substitute in December's Champions League match against Sporting.

He made his Premier League debut off the bench against Manchester City earlier this year, and Mourinho has insisted that the promising youngster is part of his plans for next season.

"I can say now, Loftus-Cheek is to stay. To stay and I think to stay and to play. I think next year to play, not just to stay. Stay and play," Mourinho is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

Loftus-Cheek has been capped for England at Under-16, U17 and U19 levels so far.
