Jose Mourinho "not surprised" by Leicester City's improved form

Jose Mourinho says that the only surprise in Leicester City's recent turnaround in fortunes is that they were in such a bad position to begin with.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that it will come as little surprise to him should Leicester City avoid relegation this season.

The Foxes have turned around their fortunes in recent weeks by winning four games on the spin to climb out of the bottom three for the first time in five months.

Nigel Pearson has warned his side that there is plenty of work still to be done, although Mourinho expects last season's Championship winners to remain in the top flight for another year at least.

"I was surprised with their bad position," he is quoted as saying by BT Sport. "For me it's a good team, good players. I played them very early in the season at Stamford Bridge.

"I could immediately feel the quality of the team. I was surprised that they were in a bad position. I'm not surprised they are out of the relegation zone. I will be not surprised when they stay in the division."

Chelsea require just two more wins from their final five games to win the Premier League for the first time since 2010.
