Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho feels that Liverpool's lack of strength in depth will cost them in the Premier League title hunt this season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho expects Liverpool's title challenge to fall away due to a lack of strength in depth.

The Reds suffered their second defeat of the season on Saturday when they were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal, and Mourinho thinks that Brendan Rodgers's side are not serious challengers for the Premier League.

"Liverpool are probably the club with least resources because, while their team looks as strong as the others, their squad doesn't look quite so strong," Mourinho told the club's official magazine.

"At the same time, they don't play in European competition, so they only play one match a week, so they are training, preparing and resting for the weekend match while the rest of us are playing in Europe."

Rodgers's side are currently third in the division.
