Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho 'could be banned from Liverpool showdown'

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could be banned from the touchline for this Saturday's crucial Premier League showdown against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could be banned from the touchline at Stamford Bridge in this weekend's crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool if he does not contest his latest FA charge.

The Portuguese coach is facing punishment after being charged with misconduct for confronting referee Jon Moss at half time of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to West Ham United.

Mourinho was angry with the officials after Moss had ruled out two Chelsea goals, sent off Nemanja Matic and ordered the manager's assistant coach Silvino Louro to the stands.

According to the Daily Star, Mourinho, who was also sent to the stands during Saturday's game, could be punished on Friday, and if so, the Chelsea boss is unlikely to be allowed to give orders from the touchline in this weekend's showdown against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Some reports have claimed that Mourinho will be axed if his Chelsea team, who have won just three out of 10 Premier League games, do not beat Liverpool on Saturday.

Mourinho has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the FA's charge.
