Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea fine after defeat'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that his team is not suffering from a lack of confidence following their defeat to Newcastle.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that his players are "fine" following their defeat to Newcastle United.

The Blues suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday as they went down 2-1 at St James' Park in the Premier League.

They return to Champions League action at home to Sporting Lisbon tomorrow night, but Mourinho claims that he is not looking for a big reaction from his team.

Chelsea head into the match at Stamford Bridge having already qualified for the last 16 of the competition as Group G winners.

"From the mental point of view the defeat at Newcastle doesn't have any effect on us. We are fine, we don't need a reaction," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

"I repeat, we couldn't be in a better situation. We have nothing to change or be worried about. When you lose a game you want to win the next game. Tomorrow is the next game and we want a good result."

Chelsea earned a 1-0 win away to Sporting in the reverse fixture back in September.
