Mick McCarthy says that there are worse positions to be in than that of Andre Villas-Boas's current situation at Chelsea.

Mick McCarthy has scoffed at the news that Andre Villas-Boas is under pressure at Chelsea, saying that there are worse positions to be in.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers boss was speaking after the Blues saw off Wolves with a 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

"I'd sooner be under pressure with that squad than a lot of others, believe me, so I did have a wry smile about it," McCarthy said.

"I am full of admiration for Andre because he has won the Europa League and his own league.

"Then he has come to a different league, speaks wonderful English — his command of that is fantastic — and it was never going to be an easy job.

"He is one of my peers and I'm full of admiration for him and good luck to him. I hope he proves everybody wrong."

Wolves are currently 17th in the Premier League, with 11 points from 13 games.
