Frank Lampard relishes 'good Germany rivalry'

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard hopes to feature for England when they resume their rivalry with Germany in a friendly at Wembley on Tuesday.

Frank Lampard has said that he is hoping to feature for England when they lock horns with rivals Germany in Tuesday's friendly at Wembley.

The Chelsea midfielder captained the Three Lions in the 2-0 defeat to Chile on Friday, when he was honoured with a gold cap for reaching a century of international appearances.

Manager Roy Hodgson is expected to make changes to his lineup for the rematch of the 1966 World Cup final, but Lampard wants to be one of the players who is retained against England's historical adversaries.

"I'd love to play," Lampard told reporters. "It's what we're here for, particularly against Germany. I think it's going to be a full house here.

"They're our rivals, and not in a terrible way - it's a good rivalry. We've got a lot of respect for them, but we want to beat them.

"There's a lot at stake for us. When 80,000, 90,000 of your own people come to support you at home, you really want to get a good result. And there is a lot of history there."

Lampard, who has 103 Three Lions caps in total, had a goal controversially ruled out the last time that England played Germany - a 4-1 defeat in the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
