Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has admitted that he was "humbled" by the recent charity match that he organised in Ghana.
It was the second time in two years that the 30-year-old staged the Game of Hope and Inspiration in his home country.
Essien guided an Africa XI to a 4-2 victory over a World XI in Accra on Sunday.
"I was very happy to be able to bring so many friends and footballers out to Ghana for the match," he told the club's official website.
"I was humbled that they would give up their time to come and play in this game and I hope they enjoyed themselves while they were here."
Essien is expected to return to Chelsea for the new season after spending the last campaign on loan at Real Madrid.
