Didier Drogba says that it would be a "disaster" if Chelsea were to finish outside the top four in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has admitted that it would be a "disaster" if the club failed to finish in the Premier League's top four this season.

Andre Villas-Boas's side are currently fifth and are facing a fight with a number of clubs to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Drogba has claimed that Chelsea must make the top four this season due to the size of the West London club.

The 33-year-old said: "If we don't make the top four it would be a disaster.

"Every time we've started a season since I've been with Chelsea we never even finished as low as fourth.

"We have to make the top four because Chelsea is a big club. Of course it can happen that the club goes below fourth."

Drogba has recently returned from the Africa Cup of Nations after losing the final on penalties to Zambia.
