Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone to take charge of Chelsea?

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is readying himself to become the next manager of Chelsea, according to a report.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is reportedly ready to take charge of Chelsea at the end of the season.

The Blues have made a poor start to their Premier League title defence, sitting 16th in the table after 12 games, which has heaped pressure on manager Jose Mourinho.

Despite the team's form, it has been suggested that the Portuguese coach will be given time to turn his side's fortunes around.

Simeone has been linked with the job at Stamford Bridge following his achievements with Atleti. The 45-year-old Argentine steered the Spanish side to the La Liga title in 2014 and the Champions League final, where they lost to city rivals Real Madrid.

According to The Mirror, Simeone is planning to succeed Mourinho at Chelsea, while his assistant coach German Burgos has already learnt English in preparation for the move to West London.

Simeone has been in charge of Atletico since 2011.
