Roberto Di Matteo is looking to win the European Super Cup against Atletico Madrid, 14 years after helping Chelsea win it as a player.

Roberto Di Matteo insists that he will be looking to win the European Super Cup when his Chelsea team take on Atletico Madrid tomorrow.

Chelsea's last Super Cup appearance was 14 years ago, when Di Matteo was part of the side that beat Real Madrid.

The Italian cites that win as one of the best in his playing career with the Blues, and he will get another chance to lift the trophy after leading Chelsea to Champions League glory last season.

"The consequence of that night in Munich is this," said Di Matteo.

"We shouldn't forget how hard it was to get here. It's a European trophy. I feel very strongly about it. Hopefully we can win it again.

"It was 14 years ago, a long time. It would be nice for us to continue this positive start to the season."

Chelsea go into the game on the back of three Premier League wins out of three and sit top of the table.

Di Matteo admits that he is pleased with the start but says there is still room for improvement.

He continued: "I'm pleased with the start we've had and the way we have been playing.

"We have some players that we need to integrate and they have to adapt their qualities to the team and our shape.

"There is still a lot of room for improvement for us."

The European Super Cup will be played tomorrow in Monaco.
