Thibaut Courtois backs Eden Hazard to reach Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi level

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes that Eden Hazard could one day be as good as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes that Eden Hazard has the quality to eventually challenge Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the Ballon d'Or gong.

Ronaldo and Messi have been widely regarded as the world's best footballers over the last few years, but Courtois believes that Hazard is good enough to challenge them.

"He's still not at the level of Messi and Ronaldo, who are head and shoulders above all the other players, but Eden has the potential to get there," Courtois told RMC.

"He's only 24 years old. He can still improve. He has the potential to be a future Ballon d'Or, but as long as Messi and Ronaldo play like that, scoring 30 goals in 30 matches, it won't be easy."

Hazard signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract at Chelsea last month.
