Antonio Conte: 'Alvaro Morata will need time to adapt at Chelsea'

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte says that Alvaro Morata requires time to adapt to life with the Blues before producing his best performances.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has suggested that he is reluctant to judge the performances of Alvaro Morata at this stage of pre-season.

Last week, the Spanish international left Real Madrid to move to Stamford Bridge, and he was given his debut as a second-half substitute in the International Champions Cup defeat to Bayern Munich.

However, despite offering Chelsea a fresh option in the 3-2 setback, Conte stopped short of giving a full assessment on his new player.

The 47-year-old told the club's official website: "It's not easy to speak about the impact of Alvaro because he's only been with us two days and he needs to work and find his feet, and understand our idea of football, but for sure he showed a great will and for us he's a great buy.

"We need to give him the right time to adapt to our way of football but he must be pleased with his performance."

Morata could feature from the start when Chelsea face Inter Milan on Saturday.
