Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas hits out at critics following goalscoring performance

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas accuses his critics of 'forgetting' what he is capable of after scoring the only goal in his team's win over Sunderland.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has hit out at his critics for having 'short memories' after he scored in Wednesday night's victory over Sunderland.

The Spaniard has been handed just three Premier League starts this season under manager Antonio Conte, but he staked his claim at the Stadium of Light by scoring the only goal of the game.

Since Conte switched to a 3-4-3 system, Chelsea have won 10 league games on the bounce, and Fabregas believes that he is starting to adapt.

"In football today people forget very, very, very quickly who you are, and what you can do," The Mirror quotes Fabregas as saying. "People forget that tonight is just the second time in my life that I have played this system.

"I am getting used to it, I have lots of players in front of me in space and protection behind me. Hopefully now I can get a run of games in the team."

Fabregas has scored three goals in all competitions this season and produced two assists.
