Chelsea striker Demba Ba admits that a quick debut against Southampton exceeded his expectations after he scored a brace at St Mary's on Saturday.

New Chelsea striker Demba Ba has admitted that he could not have asked for a better start to his Blues career following a brace in the 5-1 win over Southampton last weekend.

Ba struck twice to help Chelsea ease through in the FA Cup and keep their chances of completing a domestic cup double alive.

The former Newcastle United forward thinks that he will get chances to score consistently at Stamford Bridge because of the quality the Blues possess in attacking areas.

He told reporters: "I've never had a better debut than that. It's been a great day and now I'm going to enjoy it a little bit.

"At Chelsea you have world-class players who understand football perfectly. I saw that every time I played against them but to play in the same team as them is something different.

"You just have to make the runs and the ball comes to your feet. They create good spaces and make the right passes. They are intelligent in their game so they make it easier for me."

Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez also insisted that Ba provides more than just goals and thinks that he will be a success in West London.
