Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta eyes Ashley Cole's left-back spot

Cesar Azpilicueta suggests that he wants to take the permanent left-back position from Chelsea teammate Ashley Cole.

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has admitted that he is starting to feel comfortable in the left-back role at Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard, who usually plays as a right-back, has started on the other side in Chelsea's last two matches, booting out regular left-back Ashley Cole.

"Every time I have more minutes in this position I feel better," The Express quotes Azpilicueta as saying. "Provided I can play and be useful to the team, I am delighted. If necessary, I will play on the left for the whole season."

Cole has not started a Premier League game for the Blues since their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on November 2.
