Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea can fill void left by Diego Costa injury'

Jose Mourinho insists that Chelsea will not struggle if Diego Costa is forced to spend an extended spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Jose Mourinho has insisted that an injury to Diego Costa will not derail his side's title bid after the striker limped off in the 3-2 victory over Hull City.

A hamstring injury to Costa forced Mourinho to send on Loic Remy, who scored the winner at the KC Stadium, and the Chelsea boss is confident that the Frenchman and Didier Drogba can keep them on course to finish top of the Premier League.

"Remy, every time he plays for us he gives us everything," he told Sky Sports News. "Sometimes his movement, sometimes his defensive contribution, sometimes the goal to give us extra two points. I'm pleased for the boy, he's a fantastic kid.

"Costa has a problem, no doubts about it. The team needs goals and a striker comes off with 15 minutes to go. He has experience with the hamstrings and he knows clearly that he has an injury, but if he cannot play the next game in 15 days against Stoke we have Remy, we have Drogba."

The win over Hull moved Chelsea six points clear at the top of the table.
