Chelsea striker Diego Costa breaks nose in training

Guus Hiddink reveals that Chelsea striker Diego Costa suffered a broken nose in training but should be fine to play against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has revealed that striker Diego Costa broke his nose in training yesterday.

Hiddink said at his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's visit of Newcastle United in the Premier League that the Spanish striker had suffered the injury innocuously while challenging for a header.

The Dutchman does, however, expect his main striker to be able to play against the Magpies tomorrow evening by wearing a protective mask, joining teammate Cesar Azpilicueta, who is recovering from a facial injury, in doing so.

"Today is the day they put on a mask," Hiddink told reporters. "We are a team with a lot of masks. A Zorro team.

"I hope. I'm not sure, but I think he will be available."

Chelsea signed former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato as forward cover last month but the Brazilian is still not ready to make his Blues debut, although Hiddink did say that the target was to have him available next weekend against Manchester City.
