Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque has refused to rule Fernando Torres out of his squad for 2012, despite the striker's lengthy goal drought.
The Chelsea forward has not scored in almost 24 hours of football, but Del Bosque challenged him to fight for his place, The Sun reports.
He said: "I will wait until the last minute to decide about and Torres. Torres must recapture his goal instinct during the next few months.
"I watched Chelsea's FA Cup win over Birmingham and he worked hard. I have confidence in El Nino, but need to wait before a final decision."
Torres turned down the opportunity to take a penalty in his team's 2-0 FA Cup victory over Birmingham City on Wednesday night.
