Chelsea's Jose Mourinho confident of Champions League progress

Jose Mourinho is confident that Chelsea will progress to the Champions League last 16 from Group E.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that his side will progress to the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Premier League outfit got the better of Steaua Bucuresti 4-0 in Romania in Group E to pick up their first points of the European campaign.

"The result is obviously very good, the points and the goals," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "The performance was very solid. We played well from first minute and kept control from then on. We played with intelligence and maturity. Playing away in this competition is not always easy.

"Now we have three points in two matches, but we are not dramatic situation, now we are in a close situation. Schalke have the advantage and we have a double fixture against them. I think we are going to qualify.

"We get points against Schalke and beat Steaua and Basel and we qualify. Tonight we had to identify what we had to do well – [Andre] Schurrle was the man to do that. We played a lot from the left side."

In the other game in Group E, Schalke beat Basel 1-0 in Switzerland.
