Jose Mourinho impressed by Ruben Loftus-Cheek in Maccabi Tel Aviv rout

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says that he is excited by the continuing improvement of young midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Jose Mourinho has said that he is excited by the potential of Ruben Loftus-Cheek following his full Champions League debut in Chelsea's 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday.

The midfielder, 19, was one of six changes made by the Portuguese as he impressed in last night's rout, with goals from Willian, Oscar, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas doing the damage.

"I think [Loftus-Cheek] played very well which is very good for us," he told reporters.

"I think he is in conditions to compete with the others for positions and minutes but he is having minutes.

"He played already in the Premier League this season, now in the Champions league. He's potentially a very good player."

Loftus-Cheek has made four Premier League appearances for the Blues, three of which came last season.
