Schalke 04 defender Benedikt Howedes misses Chelsea trip

A groin problem rules Schalke 04 captain Benedikt Howedes out of his side's trip to Chelsea.

Schalke 04 have confirmed that their captain Benedikt Howedes will miss tomorrow night's Champions League encounter against Chelsea.

The Bundesliga outfit arrived at London Luton Airport earlier today, but their skipper was not present.

The club have now revealed that the Germany international has suffered a "partial tear of a tendon in his groin" and as a result he will play no part at Stamford Bridge.

Schalke have not put a timescale on how long the injury will sideline the centre-back.ID:177111: cacheID:177111:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:1732:No Data Analysis info
