Chelsea Women reach Champions League semi-finals for first time

Chelsea Women make history by reaching their first ever Champions League semi-finals.

Chelsea Women have written their names in the history books by reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their existence.

The team overcame Montpellier 5-1 on aggregate in the two-legged quarter-final to book their place in the final four.

The West London outfit had a 2-0 lead from the first leg heading into the deciding clash at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday evening.

Fran Kirby put Chelsea ahead inside the first four minutes of the encounter, before Montpellier equalised through Sofia Jakobsson shortly after the half-hour mark.

The hosts hit back early in the second half as Ramona Bachmann regained the lead for the Blues, and Kirby rounded off the win with a goal from the penalty spot.

The men's team fell at the last-16 stage as they were beaten by Barcelona.
