Domenico Di Carlo wants response at Napoli

Cesena coach Domenico Di Carlo hopes to see his already-relegated team restore a bit of pride in the upcoming trip to Napoli.

Domenico Di Carlo is hopeful that already-relegated Cesena can give a good account of themselves in Monday's visit to Napoli.

Last week's 3-2 defeat to Sassuolo saw Di Carlo's charges relegated from Serie A after a testing season that has produced just four victories.

"It was a difficult week, but this group of players has real unity and proved it throughout the campaign," he told a press conference.

"We fought and played some good football, but were unable to make that final hoped for step up. It's a shame and we have regrets over the head-to-head results. When I arrived here, I had in mind to achieve safety and set up a project. I did not hit that target.

"Nonetheless, last Sunday I saw something extraordinary in the stands with supporters standing to applaud this team after relegation. Franco Brienza scored a magnificent goal against Sassuolo and if we'd won that game people would've talked about it for days."

Victory is essential for Napoli as they look to close in on Champions League qualification.
