Brendan Rodgers proud of Celtic after clinching Scottish League Cup

A proud Brendan Rodgers says that there is "no greater feeling" than claiming his first trophy as Celtic boss after beating Aberdeen 3-0 in the Scottish League Cup final.

Brendan Rodgers has claimed that there is "no greater feeling" than claiming his first trophy as Celtic manager after his side beat Aberdeen 3-0 in the League Cup final.

The Dons were swept aside at Hampden Park on Sunday as goals from Tom Rogic, James Forrest and a Moussa Dembele penalty gave the Hoops their 100th major trophy.

Rodgers told BBC Sport after the game: "I'm absolutely delighted for the players, supporters and staff. It's something tangible to show for the quality of their work.

"I thought, in a cup final, the level of control and quality of our football was very, very good. At times, we gave it away loosely and they were a threat, but we could counter that. I thought tactically, we were very good, pressed the game really hard and kept another clean sheet.

"There's no greater feeling than today – because I'm one of them (supporters), and to stand here, listen to them singing You'll Never Walk Alone, and see the performance for them makes me very, very proud."

Celtic return to Scottish Premiership action next Saturday as they travel to Motherwell.
