Anthony Stokes: 'Home leg will be crucial'

Celtic striker Anthony Stokes believes that having the second leg of their Champions League playoff with Maribor at home will prove to be a big advantage.

Celtic striker Anthony Stokes has expressed his belief that the home leg of their Champions League playoff against Maribor will be crucial.

The Hoops will play the first leg in Slovenia tomorrow night as they look to make the most of being handed a second shot at the competition after Legia Warsaw were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player.

The club will return to Celtic Park next week having played their previous two 'home' ties at Murrayfield due to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, and Stokes believes that his side have an advantage with the second leg being in Glasgow.

"I think it could make a massive difference but we want to at least come away with a draw tomorrow night although we will be going out to win the game because the mentality at this club is that you try to win every game," he told reporters.

"But I think the second leg favours us and particularly coming back to Celtic Park. It always has a massive influence. We have played some of the biggest teams in Europe but we have managed to win games against teams that people thought were going to blow us off the park.

"So it is massive for us. The atmosphere the fans create is something special but the most important thing tomorrow night is try to get a result and we will see what happens when we get back."

Ronny Deila's side hammered Dundee United 6-1 in their last outing at Celtic Park on Saturday.
