Tom Miller 'pleased' to maintain scoring run

Tom Miller admits to being happy with his goalscoring exploits since joining Carlisle United, and puts his latest strike down to some advice from manager Keith Curle.

Carlisle United defender Tom Miller has admitted that it was "pleasing" to score the winning goal for his side at Stevenage.

The 25-year-old has now found the net four times in his last six league outings for the Cumbrians.

Miller was the subject of some half-time criticism from boss Keith Curle as a result of a flat opening 45 minutes, but the ex-Lincoln City man believes that the words of advice spurred Carlisle on to victory.

"I think I deserved the talking to that I got from the gaffer at half time," he told the club's official website. "I've set myself standards, and we've got standards as a team, and I wasn't anywhere near them. I knew I was going to get a bit of criticism at half time but it was down to us to react.

"We needed to come out for the second half and make sure things went right. I expected it, I deserved it and it helped me to get going in the second half. It's amazing to think that was my fourth goal because I didn't really know what to expect from this season.

"I said when I came that I wanted to bring goals to the team and that's what I've done so far, so it's gone well for me. It's always nice to score a match winning goal, especially when it's so close to the end of the game. The game didn't go too well for me, with the penalty in the first half, so it was pleasing on all sides."

Carlisle find themselves just outside of the League Two playoff zone on goal difference.
