Cardiff City have offered a new contract to midfielder Don Cowie as they look to rebuild on their return to the Championship.
The Welsh club have already confirmed the signings of Javi Guerra and Guido Burgstaller, and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now moved to try to secure the future of Cowie.
The 31-year-old, who signed from Watford in 2011, made 22 appearances in the Premier League last season, and Solskjaer sees him as an important part of his first-team squad.
However, it has been revealed that midfielder Tommy Smith and defender Simon Lappin have been released by the Bluebirds.
