A statement on Cagilari Calcio's official website has confirmed that Nene has signed a new one-year contract with the Italian club.
The 29-year-old striker, who joined the club on a four-year deal in 2009, had widely been expected to depart the Serie A outfit in the summer.
However, a statement from Cagilari read: "Cagliari announce that the player Miguel Anderson da Silva 'Nene' has renewed his contract with the Rossoblu for another year."
Nene has scored 15 league goals for the club.
