Sean Dyche: Burnley given backing to sign "big players"

Burnley manager Sean Dyche reveals that he is "actively trying to look for big signings", amid reports that the club are close to capturing Andre Gray from Brentford.

Sean Dyche has admitted that he is willing to 'push the boundaries' in order to make Burnley a real Championship force.

The Clarets have made a slow start to the season by claiming two points from their opening three fixtures.

Additional firepower could now be on its way to Turf Moor in the shape of Brentford's Andre Gray, with reports suggesting that Burnley's £9m bid has been accepted by the West London outfit.

Dyche has now moved to clarify his side's position in the transfer market, insisting that he has received the full backing of the board to bring in high-calibre players.

"I try to speak factually, as I always do. There is never an angle to my words, and I must make it clear to all the fans that we are looking to spend as much money as we can," he told the club's official website. "I have never denied that. We are operating with situations that will push our boundaries, there is no two ways about it.

"But the more the market gets pushed higher by deals elsewhere, the higher the prices go. The hardest balance this club has found - and that's because we have a board of directors who have to work with me about what we can achieve in the market - is how competitive you want to be.

"It has to be competitive enough, but it also has to suit the club you are at. If it doesn't, guess what? Trouble! Whether it's the contract or the fees, one has to give. We are actively trying to look for big signings and if it needs big money, the club will back it."

Burnley take on Brentford this weekend seeking a first win of the campaign.
