Burnley midfielder Chris McCann will leave the club after he turns down the offer of a new contract.

A representative of Chris McCann has confirmed that the midfielder has decided to leave Burnley because he is in need of a "fresh challenge".

The 25-year-old was offered an extension to his expiring contract, but having considered his options, McCann has decided to move on.

"Chris has made it clear to the club that he would like a fresh challenge," Sam Winstanley, spokesman for Beswicks Sports, told Sky Sports News. "He won't be signing a new deal after enjoying a fantastic eight years at Burnley."

McCann came through the ranks at Turf Moor, but has now been linked with a host of Premier League clubs.
