Burnley manager Sean Dyche: 'A point is pleasing'

Burnley boss Sean Dyche says that he has "a lot of pride" in his players after coming away from their trip to Manchester United with a 2-2 draw.

Sean Dyche has insisted that he is happy with Burnley's 2-2 draw against Manchester United, despite seeing his side throw away a two-goal advantage.

The Clarets held a commanding lead at the midway point of Tuesday afternoon's Premier League clash, thanks to first-half goals from Ashley Barnes and Steven Defour.

United responded well and eventually took a point from the game, however, with substitute Jesse Lingard scoring eight minutes after the restart and again in added time.

Despite being on the brink of a first win at Old Trafford since 1962, a run spanning 13 league games, Dyche believes that a draw should still be celebrated.

"I have a lot of pride in a team that is stretched at the moment," he told BBC Sport. "The gameplan is you're going to have to defend and do all of the ugly details of the game well.

"We scored early, we didn't relax on that, we scored again. Second half they dominated a lot more. To come out with a point is pleasing."

Asked about the quality of Defour's free kick to put the visitors two in front, Dyche added: "It was fantastic - on another day it wins the game. They're a big side, we took him off to size up a bit. They're a top side so overall you're happy to get a point."

Burnley, now winless in three, return to action on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Huddersfield Town.
