Sean Dyche: 'No timescale on Nick Pope injury return'

Sean Dyche hopes to bring in a goalkeeper to act as cover for injured duo Tom Heaton and Nick Pope, with the latter out for the long term with a dislocated shoulder.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed that Nick Pope has undergone surgery on a dislocated shoulder that will keep him out of action for an unspecified amount of time.

The Clarets are also expected to be without fellow England international goalkeeper Tom Heaton for Thursday evening's Europa League second-round qualifier against Aberdeen due to a knock.

Dyche has revealed that Burnley have therefore applied for a UEFA dispensation to bring in a new keeper, despite already having Anders Lindegaard registered and in their squad.

"Nick's had the op. So far it's pleasing news in the sense the specialist was happy," he told reporters at his pre-match presser, before adding that the second leg will probably come "too soon" for Heaton.

"It's something we're aware of. We're always open minded to add the group if we can, whatever department that's in, that's an ongoing process.

"If we think we can increase the competition levels, then we'll look at it. But you need to get the right ones in, we attempt not to bring people in for the sake of it, we want people who can affect the group and/or mature into the group and develop with us."

Robbie Brady and Steven Defour are also carrying knocks ahead of tomorrow's return leg, which is locked at 1-1.
