Derby County beat Bristol Rovers 2-0

Derby County beat Bristol City 2-0, with goals from Jeff Hendrick and Craig Bryson.

Derby County beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 in this afternoon's Championship clash at Ashton Gate.

Michael Jacobs had the first chance for Derby after six minutes, getting on the end of Paul Coutts's cross, though Tom Heaton saved well.

Heaton was tested once again, this time from Coutts's long-range effort, but the goalkeeper was equal to it.

After 34 minutes, the Rams took the lead when Jacobs crossed into the box for Jeff Hendrick, who volleyed home to make it 1-0.

Just three minutes later, Nigel Clough's side doubled their lead after Craig Bryson headed home a Gareth Roberts cross.

The opening stages of the second half saw the away side soak up the pressure from Bristol, though they did look dangerous on the break.

Liam Fontaine had a chance after 76 minutes, though his point blank effort was clawed away by the goalkeeper.

Albert Adomah struck a volley well on 89 minutes, but his effort was well blocked.

The final whistle blew, securing all three points for the away side.
