Derby lead Birmingham 1-0 at half time courtesy of a Conor Sammon header.

Derby County have gone into half time of their Championship match with Birmingham City 1-0 up courtesy of a Conor Sammon strike.

The visitors enjoyed the first decent shooting opportunity after 25 minutes when Wade Elliott beat the offside trap to latch on to Ravel Morrison's pass, but his shot from a tight angle only found the side netting.

Derby opened the scoring when Michael Jacobs's strike hit the post and bounced straight to Sammon, who headed in the rebound.

The Rams had a good chance to make it 2-0 soon after when the ball fell to Craig Bryson in space, but he lashed his shot over the bar.

Theo Robinson almost found his side's second of the game five minutes before half time when he got on the end of Jacobs's corner only to head his effort into the side netting.
