Brisbane Roar ease past Adelaide United to move second in A-League

Brisbane Roar move into second place in the A-League table after a comfortable 3-0 win against Adelaide United.

Two goals from Brandon Borrello and an individual effort from Jamie Maclaren have earned Brisbane Roar a 3-0 victory against Adelaide United in the A-League.

It took the home side just nine minutes to move into the lead, with Matt McKay and Thomas Broich combining to set up Borrello from close range.

Brisbane continued to control the first half but they could not add to their advantage as John Hall made an intervention to deny Maclaren.

However, just before the interval, Brisbane were grateful for goalkeeper Jamie Young pulling off a save from Adelaide's Craig Goodwin.

Shortly before the hour mark, Young was in the thick of the action again, keeping out a close-range effort from Sergio Cirio, but 11 minutes from time, Brisbane put the game out of the reach of their opponents.

Maclaren, who had provided a constant threat all evening, fired an effort past Hall after managing to see off pressure from the opposition's defence.

Deep into added-on time, Borrello provided a smart finish for his second of the night to cap off a fine performance that has helped Brisbane move into second place in the A-League standings.
