Inigo Calderon keen to stay at Brighton & Hove Albion

Spanish defender Inigo Calderon admits that he is doing his utmost to convince Brighton & Hove Albion to extend his four-and-a-half-year association with the club.

Spanish defender Inigo Calderon has admitted that he is doing his utmost to convince Brighton & Hove Albion to extend his four-and-a-half-year association with the club.

The 32-year-old has been with the Seagulls since January 2010 and has made over 150 first-team appearances for the South Coast side, but his current contract is due to expire this summer.

Calderon told The Argus: "I am really proud to have been here for four-and-a-half years and I would love to be here longer.

"I don't know what is going to happen, because in football you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow.

"I will just try to train perfect, try to get ready [for today's Championship match at Barnsley] and get the three points and then we'll see what happens."

Brighton are currently ninth in the Championship table, three points below Reading, who occupy the final playoff place.
