Sami Hyypia praises "best performance" against Cardiff City

Sami Hyypia believes that Brighton & Hove Albion's performance in the draw with Cardiff City was his side's best of the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Sami Hyypia has claimed that his side's performance in the 1-1 draw with Cardiff City on Tuesday was the best he's seen this season.

The Seagulls have struggled to hit top form under Hyypia in this campaign, but produced an impressive display against Cardiff and would have secured all three points had it not been for a string of excellent saves from David Marshall.

"This was our best performance of the season and that is why it is so frustrating," the Finn told reporters. "The players did a very good job and that is why I'm pleased. I do have a lot of faith in the team and the system. We've worked for three months at it.

"I think the whole 90 minutes was good, Cardiff had the ball at times but didn't create dangerous things. I thought we started well and finished well and that is what you need every time."

Brighton return to action against Watford on Saturday afternoon.
