Chris Hughton: 'Brighton & Hove Albion must not slip below certain level'

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton insists that his players must not keep slipping below a certain level following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has stressed that his players must not keep slipping below a certain level following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton at the Amex Stadium.

Anthony Knockaert's strike eight minutes from time looked to be securing all three points for the hosts, but Wayne Rooney's 90th-minute penalty gave the Toffees a share of the spoils.

Hughton told BBC Sport after the match: "To concede so late, it's even more disappointing.

"We were the side more likely to score and that we did. I just felt in general play, even with their quality, they wouldn't carve us open.

"If you don't put chances away then what happened can happen. We learned that the first game of the season and that was again the case.

"We have been in every game and are going to have to play at a certain level - if you play below that you'll get beat. For large parts of the season we have been."

The draw sees Brighton edge up to 14th place in the Premier League table.
