David Burke departs as Brighton & Hove Albion head of football operations

David Burke leaves his role as head of football operations at Brighton & Hove Albion following the resignation of Sami Hyypia.

David Burke has followed Sami Hyypia out of the door at struggling Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion, leaving his role as head of football operations.

Following a meeting with Seagulls chairman Tony Bloom earlier today, Burke departs after three years at the club.

"With Sami Hyypia's resignation earlier this week, we felt it was right for the club to re-evaluate the football set-up," Bloom told the club website.

"David's been with us for three years, and I would like to thank him for all his hard work and endeavour on behalf of the club during that time."

Bloom added that the club would be implementing a new transfer set-up, with player identification manager Paul Winstanley assisting him and the new manager, who is yet to be found, in the January window.
