Brentford slip up at Oldham Athletic

Brentford slip six points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers in League One after being held to a goalless draw by Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.

Brentford slipped six points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers in League One after being held to a goalless draw by Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park today.

Danny Philliskirk spurned the chance to give the Latics a 30th-minute lead by heading over the bar from six yards out.

However, the Bees responded well and would have taken a 1-0 lead on the stroke of half time if not for the intervention of Paul Rachubka.

The goalkeeper was forced into making a good save to keep out Clayton Donaldson's curling effort from the edge of the area.

Brentford's David Button proved the busier of the two keepers early in the second half after denying James Wilson from a corner minutes after the restart.

Donaldson was thwarted by Rachubka once again in the final five minutes of normal time, as both teams were forced settle for a share of the spoils.
