Bournemouth full-back Brad Smith will spend the next 10 months on loan with Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders.

Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders have confirmed the loan acquisition of Bournemouth defender Brad Smith on a deal that will run through until next June.

The Australia international has spent the past decade in English football, having emerged through Liverpool's youth ranks before going on to play five league games for the Reds.

Smith has struggled to hold down a place in Bournemouth's starting lineup since joining in a £3m deal two years ago, however, and a temporary switch to the United States has now been sanctioned.

As part of the agreement, the Cherries reserve the right to recall the left-back midway through the Premier League season once the transfer window reopens.

Smith started three top-flight games for Bournemouth last season and featured twice more from the bench.
