Bournemouth's Andrew Surman: 'It's tough not to get swept up in promotion hype'

Bournemouth midfielder Andrew Surman admits to Sports Mole that it's "tough" trying to avoid the promotion hype surrounding the club.

Bournemouth midfielder Andrew Surman has admitted that it's "hard" not to get swept up in the promotion hype surrounding the Championship leaders.

The Cherries will become a Premier League club if they win all four of their remaining fixtures, and with a squad that aren't used to fighting for a place in the top flight, there's a danger of nerves getting the better of them.

Surman has experience in this area as he gained promotion to the Premier League with Norwich City back in 2011, but he insists that all the Bournemouth players are being kept on the "straight and narrow".

"I think its making sure everyone's focused - not talking about the end of the season and where we're going to finish and what everyone else is doing," Surman told Sports Mole today.

"It is tough because the closer you get, you can sort of smell it, you're thinking, 'we're nearly there', but I think we've got a good group of players, good characters in the team that's keeping everyone on the straight and narrow. We've got to keep everyone's feet on the ground, as hard as it is.

"Like I say, it's like treating every game as another game - an important game - that we're focused on, and the next game is the biggest one - that's how we're looking at it."

Bournemouth will take on Reading at the Madejski Stadium tomorrow night.
